Girardi said Beltre, who injured his left hamstring during Sunday's game
at Toronto, was replaced by Texas' Michael Young. The New York skipper made
the announcement at a press conference Monday after revealing the starting
lineup and pitcher for the Mid-Summer Classic.
According to the Boston Globe, Beltre was shocked to learn of Girardi's
pronouncement because he had not ruled himself out. He tested his hamstring
in batting practice and is likely ready to go.
