Dodgers finally solve Angels
Baseball Betting Lines
06/25/2010 -
Anaheim, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Rafael Furcal's two-run double fueled a five-
run fourth inning, as the Dodgers notched their first win this season in the
Freeway Series with a 10-6 decision over the Angels.
Casey Blake and Jamey Carroll collected three hits apiece and knocked in a run
for the Dodgers, who snapped a six-game losing streak and avoided a third
consecutive interleague sweep.
"Putting the five-spot up in the fourth was big and it was nice that we
continued to score," said Dodgers manager Joe Torre. "We were aggressive on
the basepaths. We had a lot of life tonight."
Charlie Haeger returned from a stint on the disabled list with a sprained
right toe to start for the Dodgers. The knuckleballer gave up four runs on
five hits and four walks over 4 2/3 innings. Jeff Weaver (4-1) tossed a
scoreless inning to get the win.
Bobby Abreu went 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs batted in for the Angels,
who posted a 5-1 record against their crosstown rivals.
Scott Kazmir (7-6) allowed five runs on six hits in 3 2/3 innings. He had won
four straight starts.
Abreu's RBI single staked the Angels to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but
the Dodgers erupted in the fourth.
Matt Kemp led off with a single and Kazmir hit James Loney with a pitch. After
Russell Martin drew a one-out walk, Reed Johnson reached on an infield single
to plate the tying run. Furcal's double gave the visitors the lead and Carroll
singled home Johnson before Furcal scored on a fielder's choice to make 5-1.
"My fastball command wasn't there, but I had a good feel with other pitches,"
Kazmir said. "Hitting Loney and walking Martin in the fourth was big. You
can't give guys free bases."
Mike Napoli hit a solo home run to center field off Haeger in the fourth. A
sacrifice fly by Martin in the fifth restored the Dodgers' four-run advantage.
Torii Hunter and Hideki Matsui stroked RBI singles to trim the Angels' deficit
to 6-4 in the bottom of the inning.
The Dodgers increased their lead to 8-4 in the seventh on RBI singles by Manny
Ramirez and Blake. Ramirez and Loney both contributed run-scoring singles in
the eighth.
The Angels picked up two runs in the ninth on a double by Kevin Frandsen and
single by Abreu.
Game Notes
The game was delayed for 18 minutes in the top of the seventh inning when a
set of lights overlooking right field went out. The lights remained out when
play resumed...The Dodgers improved to 3-9 against the American League this

Brandon Roy Favorite to Win 2007 NBA Rookie of the Year
Portland TrailBlazer’s guard, Brandon Roy, is MySportsbook.com’s overwhelming favorite to win the NBA Rookie of the Year odds.
Despite missing 20 games due to an injury earlier this season, Roy has definitely put up the best numbers of his 1st year peers. In 32 games, Roy is averaging 15.3 PPG, 4.2 boards and 3.5 assists in over 33 minutes of play per game. While most rookies breakdown as the season progresses (see Morrison), Roy is only getting stronger as his playing time and scoring average has increased each month.
With 30 or so games left in the regular season, Roy isn’t a lock for the award by any means. Other rookies are putting together some pretty impressive campaigns and a few could give Roy a run for the award with increased playing time. Heading the list is first pick, Andrea Bargnani of the Toronto Raptors. Even though he has started only two games all season, Bargnani is averaging 10.3 PPPG while shooting 35% from deep.
Randy Foye of the Minnesota Timberwolves could be set to give Roy the best competition NBA Rookie of the Year betting lines. With the benching of Mike James, Foye looks like he could be the starter in the T-Wolves backcourt for the rest of the season. So far, Foye has averaged 9 PPG and 2.4 assists in just under 21 minutes per game. With his new role of starter, Foye’s numbers will definitely increase. In his first game as the new starting guard this past Sunday, Foye had 10 points; five rebounds and 8 assists. More importantly, he logged 34 minutes of playing time; his third highest run of the season.
Adam Morrison, of the Charlotte Bobcats, was the favorite early on in the season after averaging 15+ PPG through the first month of the season. Ever since his torrid start, Morrison’s point production has declined each month. This really isn’t surprising, considering at 6’8” he only weighs 205 lbs. Obviously he will need to hit the weights big time during the off-season in order to keep from breaking down in the future.
