Marcum went on the DL July 2 with inflammation in his throwing elbow. The right-hander started Sunday's game against the Orioles. The 28-year-old has bounced back from Tommy John surgery that caused him to miss the entire 2009 campaign and has pitched to a respectable 3.44 earned- run average through 17 starts this season, compiling a 7-4 record and 88 strikeouts in 107 1/3 innings. Following Saturday's 3-2 win, the Blue Jays activated outfielder Travis Snider from the 15-day disabled list and promptly optioned him to Double-A New Hampshire. The club also designated infielder Nick Green for assignment.

The questions really lie on defense, where it feels like DT Ndamukong Suh is going to be trying to stop opposing teams all by himself. This year should show some marked improvement in the Motor City.
