Young, Sixers top Kings in Martin's return

Basketball Betting Lines

01/15/2010 - Philadelphia, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Thaddeus Young led a balanced Philadelphia attack with 20 points, as the Sixers defeated the Sacramento Kings, 98-86, at Wachovia Center.

Samuel Dalembert, playing inspired basketball following the devastating earthquake in his native Haiti, made all seven field goals en route to 17 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for the Sixers, who went 2-1 on a three- game homestand and have won three of four overall.

Allen Iverson contributed 17 points and six assists for Philadelphia, which got 14 points off the bench from Elton Brand.

Jason Thompson totaled 19 points and a season-high 16 rebounds for the Kings, who opened a six-game road trip. Kevin Martin returned to the Sacramento lineup after missing 32 games due to a fractured left wrist and poured in 19, as the Kings lost for the seventh time in their last eight games.

The Sixers took a slim 74-71 lead into the fourth quarter, and Beno Udrih buried a three-pointer to pull Sacramento within 77-76. Andre Iguodala, who sustained a right ankle sprain earlier in the contest, knocked down a trey to key a 10-0 Philadelphia run that essentially sealed the win.

Philadelphia got off to a quick 9-3 start, but Martin nailed a turnaround jumper for a 22-18 Kings lead with four minutes remaining in the first quarter. The Sixers, though, closed out the opening frame on a 14-3 surge. Marreese Speights made two free throws and Philadelphia led 32-25 after the first 12 minutes.

Trailing by nine early in the second quarter, the Kings whittled the deficit to 40-37 on a Spencer Hawes jumper with 5 1/2 minutes remaining. Iverson sank 1-of-2 attempts from the foul line, pushing Philadelphia's lead back to nine at 47-38, but Sacramento scored nine of the last 11 points in the half and were down only two at the break.
